The Ocean Spirit

Monthly Archives: November 2015

After the last two weeks attending a church close to our location, I was longing for tradition as we begin the season of Christmas. On this first Sunday in Advent I found my way back to First United Methodist in Stuart. It was a fairly good stroll (perhaps 2.5 miles, one-way) but I was fortunate to have some beautiful sites along my route. The skies were sunny and the wind blew a… Read More

I know I can’t do this alone. What alone? ….you may be asking. Have you had times where you may have wandered off for a while from your closeness with God? I have…..for days, weeks, months, years at a time. Well, personally I can add decade into that time span as well. Sometimes there are reasons. We follow the wrong paths, we have events occur that find you questioning God. That certainly… Read More

We have had a week to soak up our travels over the past six and a half months. What an incredible experience! Here’s some scoop: 194 days/nights spent on the water 118 of those were spent at anchor
33 were on a mooring ball 43 were at a marina—-with 15 of those being at Old Lyme Dock Company in CT 3616  total miles traveled 3622 gallons of diesel fuel consumed 12 states… Read More

We have been moving on down the road so to speak! I wouldn’t exactly call it a fast and furious kind of moving, but a lot of action for Ocean Spirit. We had hoped to go outside as much as possible, but that just wasn’t in the cards. The wave height was too much for either of us to be comfortable with. So we trekked along the Intercoastal Waterway catching many sights we missed… Read More

Thanks to each of you for contacting, writing or keeping us in your thoughts and prayers last Monday.  The day was absolutely incredible, which was really the last thing either of us expected. After enduring strong winds during the night, we set out early (7:10am) leaving our anchorage on the Wahoo River in Georgia. There was only one other boat anchored in that area.  As we were heading out & past it I… Read More

I feel this may be the most important Spirit Sunday I have ever shared with you. It is with our faith and the support of family and friends that we have journeyed forward the past few years. Many of you have lived our life with us, many of you know our story, many of you don’t. Thank you in advance for allowing me to write from the depth of my heart today…. Read More

What a rainy weather pattern we have been in the middle of.  That fact hasn’t dampened our spirits, but we both admit seeing a little bit of sunshine would really be nice! Our last nice day was October 31st in Ocracoke NC.  We enjoyed the day seeing all the pirates, young, old and four-legged.  Ocracoke is where Blackbeard met his demise and each Halloween they have a big festival. We also biked… Read More

Today will be the third week lacking in a formal worship environment & I am missing the opportunity which hopefully will resume next week.  It has just so happened the last three Sundays have been travel days.  I must remember I am living the no plan life and flexibility is the name of the Ocean Spirit game. How often I am reminded I am not the one in charge.  So I will… Read More
